The Browns are getting their first road test of ther 2007 regular season today against the Oakland Raiders. Kickoff is set for 4:05 PM (ET).
The Browns are looking to ride the confidence they built up after defeating instate and division rival Cincinnati Bengals at home last week 51-45.
“Brady Watch” will be in effect again, as Romeo Crennel continues to stress that Quinn is just “one play away” from getting under center for the Browns. However, if Derek Anderson and the rest of the offense perform like they did against the Bengals, it is likely Brady will remain on the sidelines, as will his Oakland counterpart and NFL draft top pick, JaMarcus Russell.
While certain CBS affiliates will carry this game, Brady’s hometown fans have limited options if they are looking to tune in. In Central Ohio, the Bengals game will be shown instead. There is a slim possibility that it will be streamed online via SOPcast or TVU. Visit http://streamednfl.blogspot.com for more up-to-date information.

Ahead of this weekend’s match-up out west, Oakland Raiders coach Lane Kiffin had nothing but praise for Brady Quinn.
Before this year’s draft, Brady made a trip out to Oakland to work out with the team. He indicated that the team researched him a lot. “I think the world of Brady. I think he’s going to be a great quarterback, and I loved who he was. I loved getting to know him.” the coach recalled during a conference call with Cleveland media today.
The acclaim continued as he looked back to Brady’s performance (with Notre Dame) against USC, as he was part of the Trojan coaching staff at the time. “He was so competitive. His preparation is off the charts.” Quinn’s work ethic has impressed many throughout his carreer. He’s the “first one in and last one out” as Kiffin put it.
Add Lane Kiffin to the list of Brady Quinn believers. He feels the gamble the Browns took in order to get back into the first round and acquire Quinn was a good move. “It’s going to pay off. I think you guys got yourself a franchise quarterback.”
The state of Ohio, with assistance from VISA, the NFL, and Players Inc. have launched a new program titled “Financial Football” whose aim is to educate high school students on various financial topics so that they may avoid some of the pitfalls that students are faced with when they go away to college.
As a recent graduate who majored in Finance, the state couldn’t have tapped a better speaker than Brady Quinn. He visited Glenville High School in Cleveland to help kick off the program.
“Financial Football” is an NFL-themed, interactive, money management video game designed to help teach young people the basics of financial responsibility. It comes with a classroom curriculum and is activel being distributed to each high school and public library in the state of Ohio.

“It’s a great initiative,” Quinn said today. “It was something I felt I needed in high school and it’s great our state is moving towards that. It’s something a lot of kids need going to college. They need to understand financial literacy, how to handle their money and what it means to own a credit card.”
While Quinn was in Cleveland launching the program, fellow QB Derek Anderson was doing the same in COlumbus’ Centennial High School.
If you’d like to play the game, you can do so for free online at www.practicalmoneyskills.com/football or www.ohiotreasurer.gov. Sprint and AT&T mobile customers can play the game on their cell phones by texting the word VISA to 24421.

It was a long time coming. Coming into today’s game, the Bengals had won 6 of the last 8 games against the Browns; including the past 5 meetings. After last week’s thrashing from the Steelers, Cleveland needed to turn things around, and fast!
And they did, to the tune of a 51-45 win that featured over 1000 yards of total offense.

Brady Quinn did not take a single snap today, but I bet if you asked him his feelings on it, he wouldn’t be too terribly disappointed. If he were to have played today that would have meant that things weren’t going well for his team. While I’m sure he would have loved to play today, the circumstances that would have warranted shis entry wouldn’t have bee desirable. Brady Quinn is a team player.
Derek Anderson did not disappoint and sent the message to the Browns that they made the right choice in keeping him and dealing Charlie Frye. He threw for 5 touchdowns and had just 1 interception. He was adequately protected by the O-line and not sacked a single time.
Thanks to the Browns for giving their fans something to cheer about.
In-state rival, the Cincinnati Bengals, visit Cleveland Browns stadium today for the Browns’ second straight AFC North match-up.
The big storyline is whether or not Derek Anderson will prove to be a worthy and effective replacement for Charlie Frye and if he isn’t, when Brady Quinn will get his first taste of NFL regular season action. But fans of the franchise will also be interested to see if the Browns can avoid a repeat of last week’s dismal performance against the Steelers. First and foremost the team needs to protect the ball and not turn it over to the Bengals. That stat was key when looking back at their loss the previous week.
CBS will televise today’s game at 1:00PM (ET) followed by the NY Jets vs. Baltimore Ravens.

I just added another Brady video to the BQF YouTube Channel. This is an interview with one of his hometown TV stations, WBNS 10TV, after his NFL debut against the Detroit Lions last month. He talks about what it feels like to finally play, what he feels he needs to work on, plus a shout-out to his old high school team. If you can’t see the embedded video above, click here.
The folks at Gillette have recently begun a fan promotion that I thought I’d share with Brady’s fans. You could win a trip to meet the man himself, or some other great prizes.
What Gillette needs you to do is go to the social networking site, Facebook.com, and upload a picture or video of your “game face”. One grand prize winner will be chosen and they will be flown to NYC, with 3 friends, to hang out with Brady Quinn. Other prizes include a 40″ flat-panel TV, a Brady-autographed football, MiniDV Digital Camcorder, and more!
This is all part of the Gillette Fusion Game Face College Tour. The contest runs through December and you may enter for your chance to win now at www.gillettegameface.com. See the picture below for a scan from a recent issue of ESPN Magazine.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Ken Dorsey spoke to the media, today, for the first time after re-signing with the team.
Among the questions he was asked was the ever-popular “Is Brady Quinn ready to play?” Dorsey thinks so.
He noted that there are the inevitable adjustments that Brady will have to go through but that is to be expected with all rookies. Taking the learning curve into consideration, Dorsey is adamant that Quinn will emerge as a great NFL player.
“He’s young, so there’s gonna be things he will go through, but I think he’s gonna be a great player. There’s gonna be adjustment to the speed. That’s natural for everybody.”
“It’s just a question of how fast you can do it. Brady is the type to put himself in the right position through his work ethic.”
That’s a glowing review for someone Brady looks to as a mentor. Hopefully, Dorsey can continue to groom him into the great starting Browns QB we all know he can be.

With yesterday’s trade of Charlie Frye to Seattle, Browns rookie QB Brady Quinn learned that, in the NFL, things can change in a blink of an eye. And not just on the field, but off of it as well.
Frye’s departure bumped Brady up to the #2 quarterback slot in the depth chart, a scenario he expressed his excitement about to the media today. “It’s exciting, but at the same time you realize your role is a little bit heightened and you’re one play away if anything was ever to happen. You just have to make sure you’re always ready.”
On the sidelines during the Steelers game Sunday, Brady made the most of his time. He observed the game and noted its fast pace as he continues to transition from NCAA to NFL play. “You realize the decisions you make have to be quick,” he said earlier today. “You have to be very precise with everything you do not only athletically but mentally.”
So when will Brady Quinn make his regular season debut? It could be as early as this Sunday against the Bengals. But naturally that is heavily dependent on how the game is going for the Browns. If new starter Derek Anderson proves to be ineffective (like Charlie Frye), Brady could get his chance sooner, rather than later.

As was hinted by the return of Ken Dorsey last night, big changes did occur in Cleveland today.
Cleveland Browns management announced, at a press conference this morning, that they had struck a deal with the Seattle Seahawks that would send Week 1 starter Charlie Frye to Seattle in exchange for a future 6th round draft pick.
The move makes Derek Anderson the new starter with Brady Quinn as his backup. Ken Dorsey is now the “emergency” QB. Quinn had always looked to Dorsey as a mentor, so it appears this deal was made as a step towards Quinn becoming the Browns quarterback of the future. General Manager Phil Savage even noted that “[the deal] will give him more reps and continue to improve his development for the day he takes over.”
It will be interesting to see what progress is made when Frye and his new team make the trip to Cleveland on November 4th.
After the Browns’ embarrassing loss to the Steelers yesterday, the rumor mill has been running at a feverish pace. And all talk is focused on Brady Quinn and when he’ll make his regular season debut.
Adding fuel to the fire, the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Ken Dorsey is back in Berea and was at the Browns facility today. They expect him to be resigned tomorrow, which means that a current player will need to be released to make room. Whether that will that be a quarterback, or other position, remains to be seen.
So will Brady start against Cincinnati Sunday? If he doesn’t get the start, will he play at all? We’ll all have to sit back and wait.
There are pros and cons to putting Quinn in the game against Cincy. However, even if he is slated to play, coach Romeo Crennel will likely refuse to confirm the move for as long as he can; it’s the one thing we can count on when it comes to the Browns.
While addressing the media today, who were relentless in their pursuit of the new QB depth chart, Crennel still would not give anything away. He vowed not to announce any personnel changes without speaking to his players first. “For me to make a comment on where I think Brady is or where he is on the depth chart, that’s making a personnel decision, so I’m not going to do that.”
And so, the Cleveland Browns Quarterback saga continues. The next 48 hours will likely be quite eventful.
Although Brady Quinn spent all of yesterday’s season opener on the sidelines, he still appeared on TV from time-to-time as the TV commentators wondered out loud what was really going on with the Browns’ quarterback saga.
Here are a few of the pictures I captured during the game:
And the full album of captures from the game can be found here in the now open photo gallery!
Brady Quinn was forced to stand helpless, on the sidelines, as his team was beaten handily by their biggest division rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers, 34-7. Not the most ideal way to open up the regular season.
The key stat in the Browns’ loss was the team’s 5 turnovers (3 fumbles, 2 interceptions), which routinely gave the Steelers optimal field position. In addition, the teams 2 playing quarterbacks were sacked a combined 6 times.
In the QB battle, Charlie Frye started, but did not play the majority of the game, backup Derek Anderson did. Frye was also unable to lead any scoring drives for the Browns. Anderson engineered Cleveland’s only score, connecting with Lawrence Vickers in the 3rd quarter.
After the game, head coach Romeo Crennel was asked who next week’s starting quarterback would be. He responded with “Well, they both need to play better and I don’t know yet. We have to go back and look at it and evaluate it.” As for Quinn, Crennel simply did not feel he was ready. “I did not play him because he’s a kid and the game was out of reach. What am I supposed to do, put him into the game and throw him to the dogs? That would not be fair to him. It would not be good for him.”
At this point, things are looking rather bleak for the Browns. Throughout the game, you could hear the fans break out in chants for Brady Quinn. He did not play.
I say, why not give Brady Quinn a shot and see what he can do? He certainly couldn’t fare worse than what we all saw on the field today.
