We Benched Brady Quinn For This?

There is no cause for celebration Browns Fans or Eric Mangini. A win is NOT just a win; not when your quarterback has numbers like these! You picked him. You fix him. You know where our loyalties lie.
Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills was an embarrassment, but even Trent Edwards (who lost mind you) threw 152 yards and had a rating of 52.1. Derek Anderson is absolutely the worst. Unlike Brady Quinn haters who don’t have sufficient data to back up their claims, Derek is giving us copious amounts to PROVE he is just awful..
How did the other 24 quarterbacks fair in their games Sunday? Let me just say that the AVERAGE YARDS PASSED ON SUNDAY WAS 242! You Mr. Anderson, are a 6’6” giant insult with your 23 yards!
Don’t believe me? Check them out yourself. Absolutely pathetic that Brady Quinn is taken out, never given a fair chance, and his substitute does sh*t like this. Where’s rapper Common now when you need him, hmm?
Anderson’s 11.8 completion percentage was the lowest by a winning quarterback (minimum 15 attempts) since the merger. BOO!

I like the compilation of how the quarterbacks did in their games this past Sunday. 
The ratings are arranged very nicely. 
da and Coach Mangini should be embarrassed by da’s low rating.
That isn’t appropriate for a starting quarterback at all. 
Brady would never have a 15.1 rating.

I pointed this out to my dad on Sunday – we took Brady out when he was doing better then this? And we take take da out? We’re all just going to have to send Mangidiot an “I <3 Derek Anderson" shirt or something.

We were at BW-3's and a few times, I started chanting Brady Quinn, lol. People just nodded…no one joined.
It seems to me all these other QBs, win or lose, made an effort to try and complete passes and put up some numbers. In Derek’s case, does he feel that since Eric Mangina pulled the rug out from under Brady Quinn’s feet, his starting position is secure and he doesn’t have to try? Real professional Derek. Bet you fantasty football owners are kicking yourselves for drafting this fool.
And to be totally catty – how BORED does Derek look in his head shot? Almost like, “Yeah, I’m here to stay, so just keep paying me to look this way.”
Seriously, when your passer rating is 70 POINTS lower than JaMarcus Russell, who doesn’t even deserve to be on an NFL field, how can you possibly celebrate a win??? The only reason the Browns won was because the Bills fumbled the punt return down in the red zone! da had NOTHING to do with WINNING this game.
If Mangini sticks with da in a game where he doesn’t even have a completion until right before half-time, but pulls Brady when he was 6 for 8 at the half, then you KNOW this whole thing is a GIANT SET-UP for Brady to fail. This way they won’t have to pay Brady the escalators in his contract because they already gave the money to da. Just check the Fox Sports player information. da is already earning twice as much as Brady and for what?!? Great way to reward an inept QB!
I’m totally disgusted with this entire organization. I hope Brady’s agent can get him out of Cleveland, soon! Just look how well Braylon’s doing tonight for the Jets!
So here’s my theory. Mangini never wanted Brady to be the starter but he was pressured into it, then he does all this crap to make sure Brady doesn’t do good. He wanted DA to start the whole time, but he knew everyone would hate him if he did start DA at the beginnig of the year. But everyone (especially me!) still hates him.
I also hope Brady gets out of Cleveland as soon as possible. The Browns do not deserve to have him. Some day, when Brady wins his first super bowl, Mangini will regret being such a jerk.
Yep, we benched Brady for Anderson, know why? Anderson doesn’t look like a deer in headlights about to get ran down. Quinn is not confident in his game and the 2.5 games that happened proved it. Anderson on the other hand is willing to throw the ball down the field and AVOID GETTING SACKED. The other team knows Anderson isn’t afraid to throw down the field and cut back on the line, allowing for a running game to happen. The only reason Anderson went 2 – 17 against the Bills was because of the receivers having a tribute game for Edwards by DROPPING EVERY PASS SENT TO THEM. Quinn isn’t the future, Anderson is by far a better quarterback. Stop being pathetic fangirls/boys and open your eyes.
@AndersonIsBetter – No that would be Derek Anderson who is always on his ass with the deer in the headlights look, and you are a moron if you can judge Quinn’s preformance on 2 games plus the few he started last year, while Mr. Anderson has had 3 years to prove himself and the only thing he’s proved is he can throw alot of interceptions, he can’t throw short passes, he throws balls way to hard, and that he can have the worst game a QB has had since pretty much the beginning of football, and i’m sick of hearing excuses, most famously ‘it was the wind’ or ‘the recievers can catch balls’ pretty funny we only have the dropped ball problem when anderson is in, and pretty funny edwards can now catch the ball because he has a qb who can throw the ball like its supposed to, not a rocket heading into outterspace. O and for the record Brady Quinn played some tough teams and tough defenses, while Derek played one of THE worst teams with one of the worst defenses and put up those stats. derek sucks, end of story.
Watch the tapes again 8 or 9 of those incomplete passes are 100% on the receivers. Pull the Quinngoggles off your eyes.
And I’ve come to realize that arguing with Quinn fanboys/girls is impossible to win. They can’t take it when somebody is better than their prized QB. I’ll admit he’s a good kid but his reaction is slow, that lead to him getting sacked about 9 times in 2.5 games. Don’t worry boys, Quinn will get to be QB next season or the season after that when Anderson’s contract expires.
I watched the game, and i saw it all. I saw the he throws balls way to friggin’ hard. Even the commentators were talking about that. He has no touch, even on short passes he throws like he’s throwing downfield. And he was sacked because that offensive line sucks. And I’ve come to realize that arguing with Derek Anderson fans is like arguing with a 2 yr old. Whinny and bringing up lame excues to justify his retardedness.
Damnit I did it agree, Brady Quinn was sacked because the offensive line sucks.

What a conundrum. I have learned I will never win arguing with Derek Anderson fans because you are still stuck in 2007 with the magical Cinderella season that got the Browns a 10-6 record. That’s all it was cupcake, a Cinderella season and unfortunately, the clock struck midnight and your carriage turned back into a pumpkin. Right now most Browns fans are behind Derek because he got them their first win of the 2009 season, a Ringling Brothers caliber win because it’s made the expert commentators and analysts of the sports want to laugh more so than praise Cleveland. Unfortunately, Cleveland is getting laughed at a lot this season, and I’ll give you this, it’s not always Derek’s fault.
Have you read any of the other posts on this site? If you did, you will realize we do not think Brady is perfect. Check out the report cards – would blind to the truth fanboys and girls DARE to rate him less than stellar in his performance? What has upset us more than anything is the fact that the coach of the Cleveland Browns, who is still feeling insecure inside after his premature departure from his previous team, is taken by the “Win now!” attitude the NFL starting toting last year because John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens, Tony Sparano of the Miami Dolphins, and Mike Smith of the Miami Dolphins did so with their first year teams and went as far as the playoffs. Derek may not have performed any better than Brady, but for some reason, Eric Mangini gave up on Brady and decide to throw his support behind Derek. Almost like there’s two shirts which are both tight on you, but you choose the darker color because it hides the bulges better. There’s the rub.
A coach/QB relationship is CRUCIAL to the success of a team, and Mangini decided to forego that with his starting quarterback and any chance of developing it, it seems to me, so he could look good in the eyes of the football world (and more than likely his old mentor Slick Willie up in New England). If Mangini saw issues with Brady, why not try to take the time to work with him for a few weeks instead of sticking the “lost cause” stamp on his head? So many other quarterbacks in the league may not have won their team games right away, whether it was a veteran like Jake Delhomme of the Carolina Panthers or a second year guy like Trent Edwards of the Buffalo Bills, but their coaches did not give up on them, nor did they bench and humiliate them in front of teammates, fans, and the sports analysts. Tom Cable hasn’t even benched JaMarcus Russell and the Raiders are failing epically! Mangini must have saw something during training camp which led him to name Brady the starter over Derek. Am I wrong for saying that?
