Fly Air Quinn – Brady as a Jet?
I know it is still all speculation, but we were warned that as draft day approaches we would have our answer. Could Brady be traded to the New York Jets? This has me curious because BRADY WOULD BE CLOSER TO ME!
ESPN is reporting there is a complex trade scenario being discussed which would end with Brady Quinn as the Jets
quarterback.
From ESPN Insider:
According to ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio, the Redskins will trade up to take Mark Sanchez at No. 4, then deal current quarterback Jason Campbell to another team — the Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Jets — for draft picks.
If this trade does not happen, Paolantonio hears that the Browns, who have soured on Michael Crabtree, could take Sanchez at No. 5 and deal Brady Quinn. The same three teams would be in play for Quinn, with the Jets the most interested, according to Paolantonio’s sources.
Also, according to a report by The Associated Press, Seahawks GM Tim Ruskell has said he will not be using the No. 4 pick on a quarterback at all, leaving Sanchez for those at 5 and higher.
And our good friend and fellow Brady Quinn supporter, Terry Pluto, chimes in with an article espousing why Brady is still the best choice to STAY in Cleveland (despite it being 300 miles away instead of just 60 for New York). Plus, I have to admit this, there would be A LOT more Brady, I mean, Jets merchandise available AND I look better in GREEN than orange and brown.
I don’t mean to ADD to the hysteria and intensity Quinn fans are feeling, but this news is more welcomed to me. If Brady is going to be served up as draft day fodder, I’d rather it be closer to me than, let’s say, San Francisco or Denver. A part of me still thinks this is all smoke and mirrors. Regardless, it looks like I am going to have to watch the draft this year in case some sneaky behind the sideline moves are made.

Chat w/ other Brady Fans!
HEY! I thought we were just going to wait things out and not report every rumor that hit the internet! lol
Having Brady in C-Town is more ‘convenient’ for me, but you don’t see me posting my agenda all over BQF, do ya? Brady obviously wants to stay in Cleveland and play for the team he grew up envisioning leading. I’m “Team Brady”. It’s not all about you, Mr. Smartie Pants!
So, please stop celebrating/gloating! You may be encouraged by this particular rumor, but sharing any of them, at this point, just stresses out the rest of us!!
Let’s just let this all play out, ok? And then we’ll discuss what it means. Pretty please?
You do know that I’m kidding, right? I’m just on edge with all this draft/trade stuff. By making this post, you reeeaaaalllly aren’t helping me out with that, though. Just know that. It’s one thing to see it all over the net and in my Google Reader account. I don’t want to have to see it on my blog too.
I am keeping Brady and everything in my prayers and thoughts; I just hope and pray that things work out for the best.
I know the frustration, but this rumor had more dredence to it and more,… urgency.
In my defense, I did say a part of me still thinks this is all smoke and mirrors, and the title does have a questions mark. I do think it is all speculation, but I’d hope you could understand my zeal. Lately I have just heard ‘bad things.’ Stay in Cleveland and have to fight with Derek (again) for the QB position, or be shipped to East Timor to start up the Asian division of the NFL.
New York? Maybe. Still have to wait, but i was bored and had a quick idea for a graphic
At this point, with all the inconsistency that is the Cleveland Browns’ future and the hope for competence at the administrative level, I’m welcome to all options. I thought getting rid of Savage and Crennel was supposed to make things BETTER, not worse.
In the long run, I’m torn between a desire for Brady to live out his dream of playing in his home state but having to fight tooth and nail for it, or just letting him go somewhere where he’ll showcase his talent and become valued for more than draft bait. However, Brady as a Jet? I’d be lying if I said the idea never crossed my mind, especially since the Meadowlands is practically my backyard. I’d actually explore the possibility of Jets tickets.
LOL! You’ve heard “bad things”? You act like this is the first plausible NFL trade rumor that’s popped up. We’ve been in the thick of rumor central for over a month now! I just want to keep all that stuff off of here. Psst, feel free to put it on the Brady’s Bunch board
But seriously, you guys. You can count the number of NFL games that Brady’s played in on one hand. He is going to have to fight and prove himself no matter where he goes! Even if he does go to the Jets doesn’t mean he’ll be handed the keys on a silver platter. He’s still going to have to prove himself. And Mangini raided a lot of that team. They have no idea what to expect next season! Sound familiar?
I’m not thinking about what I want. I’m thinking about what Brady might want based on the kind of competitor and up-standing individual he is. I think he would absolutely relish the opportunity to fight for the starting position of his childhood favorite team and be able to live and play in close proximity to his family and friends from both his hometown and Notre Dame. I may put a lot of emphasis on this (probably too much, lol), but I don’t think others put enough. Don’t ever count out the home team.
Let’s be honest. There was no QB competition last year. The second DA signed his extension he was named the starter. Done deal. And the year before wasn’t much of a competition either because Brady’s contract hold out messed everything up. This would be the first time he’d really get a chance, and I think he’d thrive in the competition because he has the character for it. DA doesn’t have the focus, work ethic, or determination to win a battle like that. That is, provided Mangini actually lives up to his word and it is a open competition. I can’t really get a read on him. Either he’s an evil genius, or he’s a complete moron. It’s too soon to tell!
And while there is a great deal of anguish for fans having to watch NFL QB competitions, we shouldn’t assume that those are the same feelings Brady has. People have been talking mess about him since he got to Notre Dame, you know he just wants to prove himself to all the haters and show them what he can do.
But like I said, this site is my Brady sanity shrine. The draft is tomorrow. I really would have appreciated if we’d just wait to see what transpires because adding to the speculation seriously stresses me out. That does no one any favors; especially not me. And I pay the bills around here!
John or I will make a NFL Draft Open Thread/Post early tomorrow and all discussion should go in there. When we know what the deal is, once and for all, that post will be updated. Most of the morning and afternoon, I’ll be out in the sun at the Ohio State Spring Game with 80,000 of my closest friends.
Sorry for the long post, but I just needed to get that off my chest and I didn’t want to make another post and add to the fray. And now I’ll step down from my shaky soapbox and go outside and enjoy this wonderful 80 degree Ohio weather.
Have a great day, everyone!!!!
P.S. That is a really nice graphic, John. You keep getting better and better!
It never ends:

Gamesmanship by Mangini?
I just don’t know! Although I respect that he keeps things close to the vest rather than saying a whole lot of nothing a la RAC…
The NFL Draft is just hours away; I am keeping Brady and everything in my prayers and thoughts. I hope that things work out.
The Ohio State Spring Game sounds great, Suz!
I just got back from taking 80 kids to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Beautiful day, but I am very tired. I am very glad to read the above comment from our admin. I can now go shower, eat breakfast, applying Noxema (damned strong spring sun) and wake up knowing Brady is safe – my delusions might not be.
