Alive Festival Linkage

Yea, totally late on these. It happens.

I thought I’d also share that I’m going out of town Saturday for 10 days to cover the Olympic Swim Trials. I’ll be immersed in swimming, but I’ll still pop in from time to time, should something news-worthy arise. Just a head’s up!

In Thee Face!

I probably aged myself with this post title, but I don’t care. This goes out to all of the haters who ragged on Brady when his Subway commercial first started airing.

These people, who thought they were oh-so-clever, countered the commercial with the now overused “Busy? Yea, busy holding the clipboard!” comment. Well, Brady hits back with the following nugget from a new Cleveland Plain Dealer piece:

“The third-string quarterback, Ken Dorsey, holds the clipboard [on the sideline] anyway. I don’t.”

So, put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Actually, fans should read the full column by Bill Livingston. It won’t make you bang your head against the wall like much of the recent Brady press has.

Also, Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads out there. I’m going to take mine out to dinner. Enjoy your day!

It’s Minicamp Time!

So the Browns mandatory team minicamp starts today. Here’s to hoping the reports we get aren’t more of the same because we Brady fans need a break from all that depressing talk. However, on the bright side, we will be getting new pictures. I’m guessing that will help us mend our wounds.

Also, of note, is some other Brady news:

Over the weekend Brady went back to South Bend, where he lent a charitable hand to the “Hannah & Friends” golf event and gala. (video)

While back at Notre Dame, he talked to the local media about his 2nd season with the Cleveland Browns and reaffirmed his goal to be the starter. ‘Atta boy, Brady! Very short video here, but don’t get too excited. It’s really short.

Sports Business Journal reports that Brady is in the Top 10 NFL players garnering the most marketing and royalty money in fiscal 2008. Also reported is that Brady is one of 4 players, on the list, who weren’t even professional players 2 seasons ago. In summary, Brady earned $1 million in 2007 from. Not too shabby.
