Savage Continues to Piss Off Brady Fans
Yea, I said it. GM Phil Savage just doesn’t want to play nice. After publicly crowning Derek Anderson the 2008 starter, he’s continuing to push his agenda.
Read his latest comments as published in the Cleveland Plain Dealer:
Coach Romeo Crennel reiterated there is competition at every position, including quarterback, at this year’s training camp. But Savage clarified those remarks. “The reality is you don’t give a guy $8 million and expect him to be in an open competition,” Savage said of incumbent starter Derek Anderson. “He would have to play really poorly and Brady (Quinn) would have to play lights out (to beat him out).”
Ok, Phil. So what happened to all that “quarterback of the future” talk from last year? How quickly we forget.
I guess Brady should just take it easy. Just sit back and be complacent. Derek would have to get hurt or stink up the field?
Here’s a tip for dear ol’ Phil. Define “play really poorly” for us next time you speak to the media. Thanks!

First, LOVE the headline! Beautiful, and very much to the point. LOL!!!
Anyway… I really don’t think the word “complacent” is in Brady’s vocabulary. He did NOT work his butt off to get into the NFL just to waste away on the bench. There’s no doubt in my mind that he’s going to push himself harder than ever to prove to the powers that be that he deserves that starting job. All of this is just going to be motivation for him, as if he needed any more!
But yeah. I’m very curious to know what Mr. Savage’s definition of “play really poorly” is, as well….

I am sure there are other factors at play behind the scenes we do not know of, but Phil seems to have his own idea of many things.
I wonder what color the sky is in his world. In ours it is Brown and Orange, in Phil’s,… well with comments like that you have to wonder.
