Browns Continue to Impress, Defeat Texans 27-17
The Cleveland Browns recorded their 7th win of the season with a 27-17 victory over the visiting Houston Texans. The win (and Tennessee’s loss to the Bengals) places the team in the driver’s seat in terms of securing a playoff berth.
QB Derek Anderson threw 2 TD passes and running back Jamal Lewis contributed another on the ground as the Browns easily handled the Texans, who weren’t able to get enough going to push Cleveland.
As pointed out in the previous post, the Browns needed to protect the ball and not turn it over; they did just that, while also capitalizing on the Texans’ turnovers.
Next week the team will travel west to take on the Arizona Cardinals.
Week 12: Cleveland Browns vs Houston Texans
After back-to-back AFC North opponents, the (6-4) Cleveland Browns welcome the (5-5) Houston Texans to Cleveland Browns Stadium.
This game has significant playoff implications as both teams are in the hunt. Both teams also have productive offenses that should be able to put points on the board. The Browns need to win the turnover war and play solid defense to win this game. Playing in front of a home crowd will certainly help. The dramatic weather change for Texans could also be a factor.
CBS will air this game in certain markets at 1PM (ET). Check your local listings.
Brady Quinn Subway Commercial Debuts!
I know you all have been waiting and Brady’s Subway restaraunt commercial has debuted, so look for it during regular TV programming. I just saw it on NBC, but I’m sure it will be on many networks. The commercial hasn’t been added to the Subway website yet, so if I can, I’ll try to cap it and throw it on YouTube.
I was unable to record all of it, but I caught some and put some caps in the gallery!
ETA: It is probable that Brady’s Subway commercial will airing during the CBS Sunday coverage of the NFL as Subway is a primary sponsor. I will most certainly have it up on the site before Monday, if that is the case!
Browns Use Overtime to Defeat Ravens 33-30
For the second time this season the Browns recorded a 33-30 overtime victory. The last one came against the Seattle Seahawks and this one against the Baltimore Ravens. With the win, the Browns claim sole possession of second place in the AFC North division.
Kicker Phil Dawson has been quite busy in recent games and today’s win was no different. He needed to make 2 crucial field goals, late in the game, to seal the win for the Browns. The first field goal had to be sent to the review booth to figure out if it was good; it was and that forced the game into overtime. The Browns won the coin toss, then drove down the field, and Dawson returned to the field for another field goal. No controversy this time! He nailed the 33 yarder and the Browns improved their record to 6-4 and remain in the hunt for a playoff Wild Card berth.
Next week, the Browns will play host to the Houston Texans. Kickoff is at 1PM (ET).
Week 11: Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens
The Cleveland Browns look to rebound from their road loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers with their second win of the season over AFC North foe Baltimore Ravens. The Browns won the last meeting 27-13.
The Ravens are a little beat up coming into the game, but will try to put an end to their current 3-game losing streak with a win against the visiting Browns.
Kickoff from Baltimore is at 1PM. CBS will carry the game in certain markets. As always, check your local listings.
Browns Lose Heartbreaker to Steelers 31-28
The Cleveland Browns showed, early on, that they were a different team than what the Pittsburgh Steelers saw in Week 1. However, the outcome remained the same, a Browns loss.
After leading for the majority of the game, the Steelers rallied to take the lead in the 4th quarter. The Browns charged down the field to take their last shot, but an untimely penalty on a kickoff return made the situation a little more difficult. With 6 seconds left, kicker Phil Dawson had to take his shot at a 52 yard field goal in order to force overtime. The kick was lined up properly, but fell short and the Browns fell, once more, to the Steelers by a final score of 31-28.
Next week, the Browns will travel to Baltimore for another AFC North battle the Ravens. Last time out, the Browns pulled out a 27-13 win.
Week 10: Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers
The Cleveland Browns get their rematch with the division-leading Steelers today in Pittsburgh. However, the Browns team the Steelers will see is not the same one that they soundly defeated in the regular season opener.
This Browns squad is led by a one of the NFL’s most efficient quarterbacks in Derek Anderson and is very balanced overall on offense. The defense is coming a long as well. The Browns are hoping they’ll be able to steal a game from the Steelers and join them at the top of the AFC North standings.
The rivalry game will air on CBS at 1PM in select markets, so be sure to check your local listings.
Browns Win 3rd Straight in OT 33-30
The Cleveland Browns came into Sunday’s meeting with the Seattle Seahawks looking to extend their current win streak to 3, and after a competitive overtime session, they did just that. The Browns are now 5-3 heading back into conference play at Pittsburgh next week.
The team was running on all cylinders in the second half, as they overcame a 21-9 halftime deficit to take the lead late in the game. The Seahawks charged downfield and kicked a field goal with 2 seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime. In the end, Phil Dawson sealed the win with a 25-yard field goal.
Starting QB Derek Anderson had a big game, throwing for 364 yards. Running back Jamal Lewis contributed 4 rushing TDs. Kellen Winslow Jr. (11 receptions for 125 yds) and Joe Jurevicius (4 receptions for 69 yards) stepped up big for the Browns as well.
Week 9: Cleveland Browns vs. Seattle Seahawks
Last week was big for the Browns. They scored their first road win of the season and stood over .500 with a 4-3 record. But can they keep that momentum going and win their 3rd straight home game? We’ll see!
The Browns welcome the Seattle Seahawks — and former quarterback Charlie Frye — to Cleveland Browns Stadium today. Kickoff is at 4:05 PM (ET) and the game will air on FOX in certain markets. Check your local listings!
