Quinn Addresses Draft Situation as Miami Comes to Town
The buzz amongst fans and media alike this week is centered around how the Miami Dolphins passed on Brady Quinn in order to draft Ohio State product (and Cleveland native) Ted Ginn Jr. After the Browns took Joe Thomas with the 3rd overall pick of the 2007 draft, pundits predicted that the Dolphins would snatch up Quinn to hopefully provide some clarity in their own quarterback situation. Not the case. The ‘phins selected Ginn Jr. and drafted a QB with their 2nd round pick.
Would Brady Quinn harbor ill will towards the Miami Dolphins for passing on him? Would he push even harder to get into the game to seek “revenge”? Not this Brady Quinn. He’s moved on. “For some reason, everyone tags Miami as the team that didn’t take me,” he told the media yesterday. “Well, a lot of teams didn’t take me, including the team that ended up coming back around to get me.” So is there any special meaning to this game where Brady’s concerned? Not at all. “It’s not like you hold grudges or anything.’”
All the talk concerning the draft, not-so-surprisingly led to more questions about when Quinn will get to see the field. Browns fans seemed to have backed off pushing for a Quinn start with Derek Anderson leading the team to 2 wins over division opponents. Most early season predictions had Quinn relieving Anderson just before or after the bye week. That would be right about now. So will Quinn see some action on Sunday? Romeo Crennel gives us all the following insight:
“I’m just trying to win this Miami game. We’re gonna do whatever we can do to win the Miami game. Whoever we think gives us the best chance to win that game, that’s what we’re going to do.
“We’ll see when Quinn’s time comes. Like I told him, he’s one play away. He almost got in the game the other day. That’s what it is.”
So, Quinn watch continues for yet another week!
