Browns Have Confidence In Brady Quinn
Despite fan pressure to start Brady Quinn for the season opener, Browns management are choosing to err on the side of caution. They acknowledge the club’s need for a franchise QB and firmly believe that Brady will be that quarterback…with time.
“We let Brady know that we are behind him 100 percent,” GM Phil Savage told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “We traded a first-round pick to get him. We have faith in him. We want him to become our quarterback for a long time.”
The Browns organization has seemingly learned from quarterback mistakes of the past and want to develop Brady properly. That will take time and patience from the fans. Simply stated, it is too soon to start him with many of the Browns’ AFC conference foes coming up in the next month.
“We can’t keep going back and forth. When we go to Brady, there can be no turning back. We can’t ying/yang it. We can’t have another Couch/Holcomb. We have to make sure that he is ready, because when we start him — we have to stick with him. We want to do this right.”
