Brady Quinn Makes Hometown Appearance at Muirfield
The Memorial’s policy of no autographs during play didn’t extend to celebrities in the gallery on Saturday. As leaders Adam Scott and Rod Pampling were teeing off, Dublin native and Browns quarterback Brady Quinn was getting more attention from the fans.
“I try to come every year,” Quinn said. “It’s always fun to watch people golf. It’s just great for the city of Dublin to have this kind of tournament.”
Quinn said he’s a casual golfer, though a friend bragged that Quinn cranked a drive 380 yards recently.
“That’s true,” Quinn said. “But it was downhill, with the wind.”
Quinn said he’s never met Jack Nicklaus, though he hopes it’ll happen some day. Browns fan, Stow resident and former Kent State star Ben Curtis, who was dressed in Cincinnati Bengals attire as part of his Reebok contract, felt bad Quinn didn’t catch him on one of his Cleveland clothing days.
“He should have told me he was coming,” Curtis said. “I would have worn Browns.”
